A Brief History

Anchor 1

Developer Factsheet:

Archon Soul's development began December 2023. Thomas was playing a LOT of Slay the Spire at the time (as one does) and had recently played Dicey Dungeons as well. He had the idea to fuse the two games together, but he wanted to focus more heavily on the dice side than the spells. The dice could be more interesting than just an RNG mechanic, which can sometimes be frustrating when the dice don't roll in your favor. This led him to the ability to change the value of the dice faces, which lets you tune your dice to your spell's requirements more easily, and reduces the frustration of RNG.

An issue he ran into early is that, like in dicey dungeons, there is limited spell space by virtue of UI constraints. With the number of spells capped at 7, spell synergy is somewhat limited compared to Slay the Spire where you can have any number of cards in your deck. So what if your dice faces could act as spell upgrades? You could already modify the face values, why not add other effects to the dice? That way you can synergize not just your spells with your other spells, but your dice with your spells, and your dice even with themselves? That's when the game's identity really solidified.

Archon Soul

Roll the dice, but make your own luck in this 2D dice-building roguelike. Draft spells, modify your dice for maximum synergy, defeat challenging enemies, and conquer the Archon's palace. Make every choice count, and prove your worth to the Soul.

RNG in dice games can be less than fun... but fortunately for you, you can stack the dice in your favor! In addition to changing the face values of your dice, you can also modify them with Dice Bodies and Runes to add synergies with your spells along with other interesting abilities. With 40 runes and over 30 dice bodies, each dice has over 65,000 combinations!

Play as the Gaiamancer, the Pyromancer, or the Thaumancer (or even a secret fourth character). Each mage has their own unique spells to choose from, over 200 spells in total! But spells alone won't be enough to get you through the palace to find the Archon Soul. Explore the Archon's palace, choose your path, engage in combat, encounter events, defeat powerful bosses, and fight your way through 4(?) acts to make your way to the Archon Soul. Can you prove your worth to the Soul, and become one with its power?
